Role: Global ExecutiveProducer, San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities: Ongoing lead producer for international projects.
Recombinant Media Labs (RML) was launched in 1991 by Naut Humon and has existed as a lab space, record label, festival, and series of music events.
In 2016 I worked with Naut to launch an RML festival in San Francisco and host the CineChamber Apparatus - a 10-screen immersive surround screen cinema that seats 120 ppl inside a rectangle of 10 synchronized video walls. The CineChamber combines sonic and visual pieces that create a 360º cinema space (see images below). Site link.
My role in the 2016 festival was focused on the launch in the SF Bay area of the CineChamber. I creatively directed the overall production of the event, working closely with Naut on selecting artists and commissioning new works.
In 2018 I curated an exhibition for the festival, showing a video piece Earthworks by the UK collective Semiconductor. Presented at SF’s The Lab, Earthworks is a five-channel computer-generated animation, that creates an immersive experience of the phenomena of landscape formation through the scientific and technological devices that are used to study it. Masses of colorful layers are animated by the soundscapes of earthquake, volcanic, glacial, and human activity, recorded as seismic waves, which form spectacular fluctuating marbled waveforms (images below). We are currently working on the next festival coming Fall ‘24.
